Overview
In addition to its historical significance as the location of the first Russian colony in the continental United States, Fort Ross offers several hiking trails stretching north and south of the fort along the coastal headlands. Located on Hwy 1 about 12 miles north of Jenner, the fort’s surrounding landscape is rugged and lonely, reminiscent of Big Sur.
